Java Stratego
Welcome to Java Stratego, my version of Stratego! I wrote this program in Java 1.6 to run as either an application or an applet in a web page. Because this is a "work in progress" (version 1.0), the computer is not a very powerful opponent, though it is omniscient. Right now, I'm trying to make sure the program obeys the rules of the game and does not go haywire. To help you get started, please read the following information.

To run the Stratego java applet, go to the Stratego page. For help on how to use the program, take a look at the help page. You can find additional setup files in the setups folder. And if you want to use other piece sets besides the default one, you can find zipped files of them in the sets folder. As the help file suggests, you should create a folder called Stratego under the My Documents folder, then create two more folders under the Stratego folder called setups and sets. If you download a zipped set file, unzip it into its own folder under the sets folder. That way you can easily find your files when the program prompts you for this information.

I would like to credit Donato Giancola for some of the images I use in the game. You can find his images at http://www.donatoart.com/misc1.html. I have links to the bigger images below.
